Thoughts on leadership development

Updated: 19 July, 2007

World of Rhythm started life providing team building for company awaydays and energizing after lunch / session activities. However wor has developed in a way that can bring real effective change through its leadership programs.

“People need to wake up and become aware. The corporate world is changing fast and the old models are becoming outdated. The connection between teams is vital to produce extra ordinary efforts and to create miracles in business. Mindsets are not served by constrictive systems, which threaten to strangle the life out of larger organisations. Ethics can be forced on employees, but is this really the way to encourage true creativity?” Simon McCarty 2007

Wor crafts experiences for teams which although music has always played a part, the sessions have become broader and more diverse to really open up and inspire leaders and teams. Are today’s leaders respected and inspiring? Do they have vision and commitment in this throw away culture which speeds by without a moments thought? Do they have compassion and courage to face today’s challenges. Many employees are reaching burn out due to being driven too hard to meet shareholders and directors with ever increasing open wallets.

Community and companionship in a business is vital in today’s super connected world as we may be connected electronically but do we really speak to our next door neighbour in the office? Do we have time to? Do we care?

It’s a well known fact that employees will work hard for an organisation that they really believe in, where its values match their own, that they see being part of it as a real extension of family. Sure the bottom line is about money, income and security, however we are spending most of our lives with our work colleagues and sometimes just the weekends with our “real” families. Does it matter that our work is enjoyable or ultimately satisfying? Is it really just about the pay check or can we start to change our relationship to work?
